Residents Forward’s Let’s Walk PW
This initiative promotes walkability, sustainability, and vibrancy in Port Washington. By setting feet on the streets with Let’s Walk community events, way finding signage and self guided walks, Lets Walk PW enhances residents health and vitality by turning shopping, dining, nature and culture into an adventure best experienced on foot.

Start your shopping marathon on the corner of Campus Drive and Port Washington Boulevard and head north to Main Street. Continue west all the way to Shore Road and north to Manorhaven Boulevard. You will be amazed by the wide variety of stores you will encounter, ranging from women’s clothing, to musical instruments, to home décor, to sporting goods, books and more.

Weave some culture into your shopping marathon by taking note of the many murals that make our town beautiful. Visit the “Unity & Diversity” mural on Campus Drive, then the “Sunset” mural and “Welcome to Port Washington” mural next to Wright Music, next the “History of Port Washington” mural next to Baltimore Design, and finally, the “Heroes” mural next to Delux Transportation. Feeling inspired by the arts? Keep going and visit the Port Washington School of Painting on the corner of Central Drive and the sculptures along the Bay Walk Promenade.

Share a gourmet dinner at one of Main Street’s upscale restaurants. Stroll to Blumenfeld Park to see the roses, then head to Sweet Treats on the Wharf to get ice cream. Be sure to pick your flavor in time to catch the sunset at the Town Dock!

Take your dog for a leisurely stroll down Bay Walk Promenade.
Be sure to take advantage of the doggie water fountain and enjoy the sculptures and educational displays!
Continue along Shore Road, and stop into Unleashed for a snack for your dog and DV Bagels for a snack for yourself.
Walk back down the Promenade to the Town Dock where you can find a bench to rest and enjoy the beauty of Manhasset Bay.
Take your dog for a brisk walk through the Manorhaven Nature Trail and on to the Manorhaven Dog Park to play. Then head over to One More Cakes & Bakes for a treat and enjoy the outdoor seating with your pup.

Pick up a book at the Public Library, a coffee at Mediterranean Market and wander over to Stannards Brook County Park to find a quiet spot to read and connect with nature or head over to a bench in the Main Street Mural Garden to read and relax.
Enjoy a spa treatment at Hand & Stone, Massage Envy, Beauty Fluff or one of our many nail salons. Pick up a cup of tea at Schmear a baked good at St. Honore and enjoy it while watching the wildlife at Baxter’s Pond.

Port Washington has too many playgrounds to go to just one! Start at Merriman Park at Pine Street, head down Mackey Avenue and get pizza at Carlo’s, then go to Blumenfeld Park for more time on the swings and slides. When you’re ready for a treat, Ralph’s Italian Ice is just a few blocks west on Main Street.

Grab a family-friendly bite on Manorhaven Boulevard, where there are many options, including bagels, pizza and Mexican food. Then walk to Manorhaven Park to enjoy the playgrounds, pools and sporting facilities. Grab a sweet treat at Paradice (seasonal) or One More Cakes & Bakes and enjoy it at Morgan’s Dock.

Pick up some gear at Arena Sports, grab pizza at Gino’s, Carlo’s or Domino’s, then walk down to the PAL courts to play some ball.
Grab a picnic lunch at Cactus Café, Harbor Deli Too, or Burger King. Eat in the pavilion at Manorhaven Beach Park. Then play a set of tennis, shoot some hoops, or practice your skateboarding in the park

Feel like a challenge? Try this 5.5 mile loop that starts and ends at the Town Dock and takes you through some of Port Washington’s most beautiful parks as well as its commercial districts.
Beginning at the Town Dock, cross Main Street near Louie’s and head up Prospect Avenue and go right on Carlton Avenue. Enjoy walking through Stannards Brook County Park, and then take Madison Street up to Main Street. Walk east on Main Street to Port Washington Boulevard, then take PW Boulevard north. Turn left on Sandy Hollow Road and follow it to Mill Pond Road. Take a left and follow Mill Pond Road to Shore Road. Take a right on Shore Road, and follow Shore Road to Manorhaven Boulevard. Turn left on Manorhaven Boulevard and follow it to the park.
Take a breather on the beach before heading back the way you came on Manorhaven Boulevard. Turn right on Shore Road, taking the Bay Walk Promenade back to Sunset Park, passing the Sousa Bandshell before arriving back at the Town Dock.
