The Climate Awareness Garden

Sponsored by the Angela and Scott Jagger Foundation

Children working together in a garden, planting and tending to green climbing plants with support netting in a raised wooden bed.

Students in grades 5 - 12 can get their hands dirty in this living classroom while planning, growing, and maintaining a “square foot” vegetable garden.  We explore; climate change, water conservation and protection, air quality, soil health, pollution prevention, and biodiversity.

  • Gain hands-on experience in food production

  • Understand the connection between food & climate

  • Explore local food consumption and waste

The program is designed to foster collaboration and cooperation. Middle and high school students have the opportunity to mentor younger students and develop leadership skills while elementary students get valuable experience learning in a mixed-age setting.
