Residents Forward: Leading Charge to Protect Water

This Newsday feature by Tracy Tullis, shines a spotlight on something we’ve been building towards for a long time: a new way forward for our region’s water future.

The Save Water. Save the Bagel! conversation started as a bold, student-led idea at RF’s Youth Climate Summit and quickly became something bigger. A shared realization that our groundwater system is under real stress — and that we have the solutions, but not yet the scale.

A growing coalition of interested stakeholders is launching: Long Island Groundwater Rebalance 2050

A coordinated effort to bring the best practices — conservation, recharge, smart technology, education — to scale across Long Island, with urgency. And we’re doing it together — water suppliers, environmental leaders, communities, and the next generation who helped spark this movement.
